Conditions & Treatments

Urology is the surgical specialty that deals with the urinary system and the reproductive system of males.

The urinary system or tract is the body's pathway for filtering waste products out of the blood, and turning them into urine, which can then be safely expelled. It consists of 2 kidneys, which are connected to the bladder through 2 small tubes called ureters. Blood is filtered in the kidneys, and then passes down the ureters into the bladder, which acts as a storage reservoir until it is socially acceptable to pass urine. Urine passes along the urethra, to the outside of the body. In addition men have a prostate, penis, testicles, and scrotum, which are involved in reproduction.
